Basin Landing StaffSince 1999, Atchafalaya Basin Landing Airboat Swamp Tours and Turtle's Bar have been providing guests from down the street and across the globe with a family owned and operated environment for fun, adventure and entertainment. In addition to running tours seven days a week, our Swamp Shop has everything you need for a day on the water fishing or boating, including live bait, tackle, ice, fuel, snacks and lots more. Our team has compiled a list of questions we get from guests and people who call in, and we thought we would share this valuable information with our social media friends.
Q: If we are planning on staying in the area for a few days, what are some other things to do nearby?
A: The Breaux Bridge/Henderson area has tons of attractions, all within a 10-minute driving radius of Basin Landing. One of the most popular events in St. Martin Parish is our annual Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival, held the first weekend in May at Parc Hardy. This year, the event will be May 6th- 8th, and as always, it will showcase the best Louisiana has to offer in boiled crawfish, traditional crawfish dishes, and creative twists on this spicy crustacean delicacy. Additionally, the festival features live music, rides, games, and more. For the most up-to-date information, visit their Facebook page here
Q: How much does a tour cost?
A: Our airboat tours typically run 7 days a week by reservation when conditions allow, and they cost $55 per person, or $39 for kids 10 and under. We also have a traditional, 24-passenger swamp boat that can be chartered by groups of 6 or more for $39 a person.
Q: Is hearing protection required on airboat tours?
A: Yes, we require passengers of all ages to wear hearing protection while the airboats are running. Tour guides will stop the boats to share information with guests, and you are allowed to remove your headphones or earplugs on these stops along the tour. You are welcome to bring your own hearing protection, or we can provide it to you. We do not require hearing protection on the traditional swamp boat tours.
Q. Are life jackets required on swamp tours?
A. Only passengers 16 and under are required by law to wear life vests on airboat tours. Otherwise, it is entirely optional. Life vests are kept under your seat for your convenience and safety should you choose to wear one.
Q. Should I bring bug or mosquito spray?
A. No. Contrary to popular belief, mosquitos are not as present or vicious during the day as they are in the evening. We carry spray on our tours as well.
Q. Should I wear sunscreen on my tour?
A: Sunscreen may be worn at your discretion. All of our airboats have custom canopies which help with the sun tremendously, but you will get some sun as the boat moves and turns. If you forget sunscreen, we have small bottles available for purchase in the general store.
Q. Can we bring food and drinks onto the boat during the tour? A: Yes, food and beverages are allowed on the tour. There are a variety of snacks and drinks available for purchase in the general store, and we also sell small coolers and ice if you need them. We do like to advise all customers to use the restroom before the tour, as there are no bathroom breaks for 1.5 hours.
Q. How early should we arrive for our airboat or traditional swamp boat tour? A: We ask that customers aim to check in twenty minutes before your scheduled tour time. This allows time for the necessary paperwork, and bathroom breaks, and it greatly assists us with staying on schedule.
Q: Is your boat launch open to the public? A: Our boat launch can accommodate nearly any size vessel, and it is open to the public for $5 per launch. We also have annual passes for $100 available in the Swamp Shop.
Q: Do you sell merchandise online? A: Basin Landing does have select items available for shipping in the contiguous U.S. If you come here on vacation and do not want to add extra weight to your luggage on the ride home, we will be happy to ship most items from our store to you. Our online store has several gifts and merchandise for all ages: Visit https://atchafalaya-basin-landing-swamp-tours.square.site/to see our entire catalog of online merchandise.
