Café Sydnie Mae – Breaux Bridge, LA
The first stop was at the fabulous Café Sydnie Mae in downtown Breaux Bridge. Rocky and LVP spoke with owner, David Puckett about his extensive collection of art from local artist Tony Bernard, an understudy of world-famous Blue Dog painter, George Rodrigue. He also revealed to the travelers the centerpiece of the restaurant, Breaux Bridge’s first Otis Elevator. Originally home to a casket manufacturer, the building has now been transformed into and art gallery and one of Breaux Bridge’s most popular brunch spots. Puckett acquired the restaurant’s cypress bar from the Evangeline Hotel in Lafayette, LA. After a hearty breakfast of eggs benedict and pan perdu (French Toast), the crew headed out to Atchafalaya Basin Landing for a swamp tour.
