What You Might See On An Airboat Tour

Atchafalaya airboat tours are a highly educational and enriching setting for kids and teenagers to learn about the ecological impact of our swamps. Depending on the time of year and the water levels, students can expect to see many forms of native wildlife, flora, fauna, and birds. The basin is home to many American alligators, and they are frequently spotted sunning themselves. If you are lucky, some of our more familiar alligators may even approach the boat for a photo op. Bring your binoculars and your cameras, because you will certainly see nature's beauty in the ancient moss draped trees. Our tours will take students into the heart of the cypress woods, where our seasoned, local tour guides will teach them about the history of the basin while outlining the importance of our culture and the greater role that the swamps play nationally in drainage and retention.

What Is Included On A Basin Landing Tour

Our tours are approximately one and a half hours long, and they include mandatory life jackets for kids 16 and under and hearing protection. Our complimentary hearing protection is available in the form of disposable earplugs or earmuffs, which are sanitized between uses. Our Swamp Shop has candy, sodas, jerky, chips and snacks, and ice. We also carry a variety of sunscreen, lip protection, and souvenirs. Food and drinks are welcome on the boat tours, we just ask that you remember there are no bathroom breaks on the trip, so prepare to have your group arrive 20 to 30 minutes before the tour so that everyone has sufficient time to use the facilities and load up on snacks.

Why Choose Basin Landing For Your Field Trip

As the only local and family owned fleet of boats in the area, we have been giving tours to groups from around the world since 1999.
